UC4B Accessible climate adaptation knowledge that is integrated into internal systems and procedures

As internal knowledge of climate adaptation grows, it will need to be made accessible to many more people in your organisation in a form that is easily utilised in their work. Look for opportunities to integrate knowledge into internal systems and procedures, so that adaptation is no longer seen as an ‘add-on’ task.

Sub tasks:

Align adaptation actions and subsequent learnings with existing strategies, policies and plans
- Ensure horizontal policy integration through coordinating work and learning across sectors and portfolios as well as vertical integration by sharing learnings into policies at all levels of the organisation.
Encourage reflective learning within your organisation
- Create space and time to evolve from ‘single-loop’ learning where decisions are adjusted in a reactive response to faults, to instead a ‘multi-loop learning’ model which analyses failures and successes, challenges assumptions behind decision-making and updates processes and decisions based on this new information.
- Formal learning mechanisms and tools, such as decision-support tools for adaptation, may assist creating an evidence- based approach to adaptation decision-making.
